How do I get my Carers Grant?

Many Carers ask us about a the Carers Grant. This is the statutory carers needs assessment and support plan.  You can call the advice line on 01736 756655 to discuss the impact of your caring role to be connected to the most appropriate support and resources to help you. This will not affect your statutory right to request a Carers needs Assessment.

What is a Carers Emergency Card and how can I get one?

The Emergency Carer's Card Scheme is for carers who are concerned about what would happen if they were taken ill, in an accident or if another emergency stopped them from getting to the person they care for. They can nominate an emergency contact and we can provide the wallet size card and help contact the person in an emergency. 

Please call us on 01736 756655 with the names and phone numbers for one or two  emergency contacts.

I have not received my Carers Grant/Personal Budget?

If you have completed the forms requested, including BACS for your bank information, you can expect it to take several months for the payment to reach your account.

What is the Carers Register and how can I be added to it?

Through the Carers Advice Line on 01736 756655, we can add you to the Carers Register and we will keep you up to date with the latest news and developments for carers if you provide an email address.

Also, the information that you provide about yourself and the person you care for will help us better understand the needs of our local caring community and will shape how we support carers in the future.

I am not coping with my caring role, where can I get support?

Call us on the Carers Advice Line 01736 756655 to discuss your situation and we can make a referral for further support. If you require assistance out of usual office hours contact the Department for Adult Social Care on 0300 1234131.
