Courses and Activities for unpaid carers

Promas is the Cornish word for “promise or undertaking”.

“We chose it to represent our commitment to working with carers. We know that carers are very special people. We also know that caring for a loved one can often be unexpected and comes with no training on how to cope.

Caring for a family member or friend requires specialised skill. Unpaid carers often experience depression, anxiety and a multitude of physical illnesses brought on by their caring role.

Central to our working ethos is our commitment to the inclusive working and the principles of equality and diversity; this is at the core of all our work.” - Betty DeLord & Jenny Tarvit, Executive Directors of Promas CIC

Promas CIC offers a range of free services to help carers with physical and psychological wellbeing; practical, recreational and emotional.

Caring Courses allow for carers to learn more about their role as a carer, with ways to also look after their own physical and mental health.

Courses dedicated those looking after someone that is diagnosed with Dementia, to understand more about it and how to prepare you for the future.

Recreational Courses allow for carers to step away from their caring roles to partake in fun and relaxing activities alongside other carers.

We provide opportunities for carers to meet up for fun activities and events across Cornwall once a month.

Promas CIC offers additional support to carers via a telephone service, alongside allowing carers to partake in online courses, telephone training and mentoring.
